Abstract: Data has become the foundation of financial innovation — it drives our research, technology, and even daily decision-making. However, challenges such as limited data availability and imbalanced datasets often restrict the use of real data. This is where the role of synthetic data comes in. By generating artificial yet statistically realistic data, it helps address privacy concerns, supports model training, and enhances data sharing and testing. Still, synthetic data faces limitations, including potential loss of fidelity, validation challenges, and regulatory uncertainty.
